Explosion Inside Mosque in Kabul Injures Seven

Security officials in Kabul province said an explosion occurred at a mosque in the 5th district of Kabul city, injuring seven people.

Nusrat Rahimi, deputy spokesman for the Afghan Interior Ministry, said the incident took place at sheikh Mohammad mosque at around 02:20 pm on Friday.

According to him, the blast occurred when worshippers gathered for praying. "Explosives were planted inside the mosque and detonated during Friday prayers,"

At least 10 people were injured in the blast, local sources said.

No individual or group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast. But ISIS's Khorasan branch has claimed responsibility for the deadliest attacks in more a month, including mosques, schools and public places in various Afghan provinces, including Kabul, Kunduz, Balkh, Kandahar, Herat and Nangarhar.
